First look at the official Nintendo Switch 2 collectible coin

As we reported previously, Best Buy has already officially confirmed with 9to5Toys regarding details on more Switch 2 console stock coming available on launch day as part of its midnight release event. It has now also sent over some official imagery of the collectible coin select lucky customers will get a chance at that night as well.

Official Nintendo Switch 2 collectible coin

Best Buy told us previously that it would be offering select gamers attending its midnight Switch 2 release event at stores across the U.S. a chance to land a Nintendo collectible for FREE. We just weren’t 100% sure what it was or what it looked like, until now.

Previous rumors suggested this collectible would be some kind of Nintendo coin, and we can now confirm that it is indeed just that.

Best Buy has sent over the official imagery you see in this post as well as updated the original announcement post on its official site with our first look at the actual coin alongside some additional details on how to score one next week.

Best Buy says that customers “who pick up or purchase a console starting on June 5 at 12:01 a.m. ET” will also get the chance to “walk away with a limited-edition commemorative coin.” This coin, as seen above, features a “special Best Buy and Nintendo branding.” I wish it didn’t have Best Buy branding on it, but hey…free is free, I guess.

Best Buy adds that “inventory is limited, so be sure to get to the store early for a chance to collect your coin.”

We have a feeling that official statement should read more like extremely limited, but it is hard to say for sure. Could there be less coins than consoles at each Best Buy brick and mortar location? That also seems unlikely considering how limited Switch 2 has been thus far, but again, it’s impossible to say for sure at this time. We are reaching out to Best Buy for comment as we speak and will update this point accordingly if we hear back.
