I have been a long time Logmein 250 license user. Love their product and use it daily. I have remote users that also use the product. The recent price increases have made me look elsewhere.

This is what I do with Logmein that I am looking to replace with another solution

  • Unattended remote desktop access
  • Being able to view both monitors remotely at the same time
  • File transfers, prefer to do this without having to remote into the computer first
  • Easy to use for my normal users, 10-20 regular computer users, to have remote access to their computers while not in the office
  • Control what each user account has access to
  • 2-10 concurrent sessions in use at the same time
  • Easy deployment
  • Manage my computers and users from an admin console
  • Assign computers to different groups for management
  • 2 step authentication for admins
  • Notifications are great also

I am looking at Splashtop, ScreenConnect, and maybe even Fixme.IT. Teamviewer really isn’t in the game due to their price and concurrent session limits.

So far I have only checked out Splashtop. It is missing dual monitor viewing at the same time. You must remote desktop first before you can do file transfer. The user management is not as detailed as Logmein. Most other things I like and can replace Logmein.

Any other suggestions?

:¬/ there are so many other threats about that on SW…

I really like ScreenConnect… BUT they screwed people over as well with a price increase for the hosted version from $300 something to $2000+ dollars…

Also Simple-Help seems nice for self -hosted. https://simple-help.com/screenconnect-refugees-discount-page

Are you looking into hosted, or self hosted stuff?

Screenconnect cloud had massive issues for me at my last job. Fingerpointing was done at Kaspersky which may or may not be justified but they couldn’t resolve it. Machines would constantly drop offline from the portal. I would have to remotely restart the service on the computer to get it to go back online. That’s fine if they are on the network or VPN otherwise not so much.

They have a version as well where you have their appliance in house. Of course if your central site goes down, you can’t get to anything.

I think ultimately you are going to see the prices rise across the board simply because they know that’s what the going rate is now that Logmein raised them. Don’t be surprised if you’re close on pricing in a year.

Sounds familiar, we had issues with McAffee blocking things at time.

I am looking for a hosted solution.

You would think that it wouldn’t register at all then. They could be online for days at a time before they dropped, and they could drop 3-4x a day. That being said, I’ve seen stranger things happen with AV/Firewall products, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that it was Kaspersky. It’s not my problem anymore.

Justin, you are correct that splashtop doesn’t support viewing dual monitors at the same time. This is on our roadmap to add. We are committed to continually improve the product based on feedback.

Splashtop Business for Remote Support is cost effective… offering Central Plus features at below Central Basic cost. For 250 computers with unlimited concurrency and free secondary users, its $399 per year.
I’m here to answer any question:

Vnc is not very user friendly with very little management for 100+ devices and users. Will look at others

If all the systems are on your network, have you looked at a RDP broker gateway/portal. Maybe something with 2factor authentication?

If you need to manage the jobs within your network, Lepide remote admin tool is available free and helps to remotely administer network computers in hassle-free manner.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your interest in FixMe.IT. I think it fits most of your requirements (i.e. unattended access, unlimited concurrent support sessions, multi-monitor navigation, ease of use and deployment, assigning computers to different groups, 2-step authentication). Multi-monitor support works quite smoothly, and as for file transfer - there’s an option to send files from the admin panel without having to run the remote desktop control operation. If you decide to try FixMe.IT free and have any questions, please let me know - I’m always happy to assist.

Hi @justindover - Apologies for the late reply here but glad to see that you’re considering ScreenConnect as an alternative solution. It’s possible that a cloud hosted solution could work for you - our Access 250 license will give you unlimited users and unlimited sessions to your 250 devices. ScreenConnect also offers multiple monitor support including the ability to open each monitor into separate windows. The cost of this solution would be $840 / year. Please let me know if I can answer any questions on this for you.
