Thanks to Xopher on the idea for the video! We have one week left before the festivities begin! For some of us, even less time as quite a few will be arriving over the weekend! I wanted to share a few things to remember as we all wrap up this week to ensure next week is the best SpiceWorld ever!

Mobile App

As Dana posted last week, the mobile app is live and with this year’s info! I suggest getting it installed has it does make it easier to organize my time at the conference. I’ve already started filling out my schedule by going to talks I want to check out and clicking on the calendar icon. I can even add a few unofficial events to my schedule by going to My Schedule and clicking on the + icon at the top right. The app also includes a map of the convention center so it’s easy to find where the rooms and vendors are!

SpiceBuddies Boot Camp

Just a reminder that @francis-spiceworks is hosting this year’s SpiceBuddies Boot Camp sessions! While he says he can’t be as outrageous as Spankmeister (no one can beat him with the bacon suit and Unicorn head), I have full confidence that Todd will have a few things up his sleeve!

Unofficial Events & Challenge

Another plug on the SpiceBuddies website, handled by the talented Cyali! Tons of great info for unofficial events and a map of the downtown Austin area with filters for various things you may need (such as dining or sightseeing). You can also see all the SpiceBuddies that will be there next week so you know how to find us! We also have a FAQ thanks to Cyali and Technical Angel that’ll answer many of the common questions that are asked.
Lastly, we will have a new challenge this year! While we don’t have as fancy of a prize as a Microsoft Surface, we will have quite a few more, which means more chances to win! Make sure to check with the SpiceBuddies during the conference for more info!

SpiceBuddy Discord Hub

We are using Discord this year to chat as well as Hangouts! If you’re interested in joining us on Discord during, before or after the conference, you can join us here: Discord . You don’t need to register an account to join in and chat, only if you want to secure your name so no one else can impersonate you (we don’t have room for more than one @scott-sa-spiceworks ). This is also a great way to meet up with fellow SpiceHeads without using minutes or texts on your phone!

If you’re new to Discord, the link below has some helpful info to get you started!

8 days from now I’ll be putting my foot in my mouth in front of a live studio audience… Or live spiceheads.

I’m still not convinced I’ll survive my first SpiceWorld Presentation… but at least its for a good cause.

Must… plan… ahead…

Discord… hmmm… I shall see.

This is really shaping up to be a spectacular SpiceWorld!
The weather looks good too - highs in 80s lows in 60s

Converting to “real” temps…

80°F = 26.67°C

60°F = 15.56°C

Ok… too hot. I mean 15°C is decent. A little warmer is ok… but 27 °C or more…

Just be glad it’s in the fall, if that is too warm then Summer in Texas would kill you

5 Spice ups

Yep - I like it hot! But I agree that Texas in the summer can be brutally hot.

will @scott-sa-spiceworks 's speech be live-streamed? I want to know whether to make fun of him or not right away  I may be able to go next year, but this year I still won’t be able to go :frowning:

Don’t be ridiculous Bweber93 … you don’t have to wait until I present to make fun of me… you’ll just have more ammo after.

Most, if not all, of the breakout sessions are not streamed. (At least that’s the way it’s been for a few years now.) I think it’s a matter of logistics and bandwidth at that venue.

However, some of the presenters will record their sessions and make the recordings available after the conference. Let’s hope that this idea catches on with more of them. Even if you attend, it’s hard to see everything with concurrent sessions going on.

I’m a Boy Scout, I always try to be prepared when making fun of someone… especially if they’re a bear.

Yes! One more week to Canadian Thanksgiving. It is just like American Thanksgiving, except all the football teams are called the Rough Riders.
