Hi guys,
Just put Beta 3 in, thought it might fix the fact that none of the anti-virus is being detected on my computers anymore…
Using Microsoft Forefront.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
5 Spice ups
In my network i have the new forefront endpoint and is detecting well.
But i have the issue that my old antivirus solution is also being detected, that issue is reported as WMI info that is left behind on changing the antivirus.
I’m also having an issue detecting bitdefender. It seems hit and miss as far as detecting it. Some show that it’s installed, others done. Are your scans picking up other info about your computers?
We tried to add support for a few more AV clients in beta 3 - but it should only effect Windows Server OSs.
Could you run a Rescan on one or two devices and then post a screenshot of what you see on the Configuration tab?
Are these workstation or server OSs? Do you see the AV listed in the Software tab?
I have the same issue I am testing 5.2.73905
I have attached a number of images the first is the security centre on the dashboard only showing a total os six installs.
The next is on one of my servers config tab showing none detected.
The third on the same servers Software Tab with Forefront client
And finally the fourth showing the software installed on all of our network.
I hope these images help.

Thanks for letting us know - sorry we missed this client.
I’m having trouble identifying the different client packages associated with Forefront. This client (Microsoft Forefront Client Security Antimalware Service) appears to be only part of the antivirus package.
Is “Microsoft Forefront Client Security Antimalware Service” both antimalware and antivirus in a single unified package?
Do any other services get installed? It appears that at least a few devices also have a recognized package installed, named “Microsoft Forefront Client Security”.
Hi Ben
I have attached another document for you to have a look at.
Yes the Antimalware is built in to the Anti Virus package
The three images on the new document are as follows:
- Software detected by Spiceworks
- Services running on my Windows 7 Desktop PC
- And the About Us page from Microsoft Forefron Client Secuirty
hope these help

Thanks for the extra info. It looks like FCS should create these three entries in the Add/Remove Programs listing:
- Microsoft Forefront Client Security Antimalware Service
- Microsoft Forefront Client Security State Assessment Service
- Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Agent
Primarily Spiceworks uses the information Windows records in the Windows Security Center to track antivirus information/status. Because Security Center is only available on workstation OSs (7, Vista, XP), we have two situations:
- for appsvr01 (Server 2008) Spiceworks should be able to at least show FCS is installed, but would be unable to report on its status
- the workstations on your network should be reporting name/status of their AV client via Windows Security Center
Do your workstations show FCS as installed when you view Windows Security Center (also Action Center)?
Is anyone else still having this issue in the latest release (5.2 RC)?
