I just got my Spiceworks installation up and running. I successfully set up a remote collector on friends PC.

I’ve noticed on the network with the server, it picked up other PCs that it doesn’t have access to, the router and even my cell phone connected via WiFi.

At the Remote site, I’m not getting any info other than the local-PC SW is installed on. Is this normal? Should I be able to see information regarding the router and other devices connected to that network from the one installation?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi,

You need to login to the RC and setup scan entries just as you would have done in your main server (Scan range, login accounts etc…), once you set it up on the RC it will sync the data to your main SW server.

On my internal network where the Spiceworks server is set up, the only admin access it has the machine it is installed on, however, it was still able to identify other devices such as the Router, other PCs and even cell phones on the network.

If the Remote collector is reporting back information about the machine its installed on, shouldn’t it be able to at least identify these other devices?

Hi,

It will once you setup the scan range.

I’m still a little confused as to how to set the scan range.
