Hi,
We have several dell servers here, which i can connect to with iDrac and remotely manage. i wanted to deploy openmanage to control everything centrally, but after installing the latest from dell (v 8.5.0) i get a connection error… tried all servers:
what am i missing here ?
i am trying to connect with the same idrac credentials that work when i browse the server directly. please advise.

What do you mean your tried to connect to each server? Where did you install OME? Log on to that server and run the client direct?

if i browse to each server to its idrac ip, i can login and manage the server.
i installed openmanage on a VM in the same subnet as the idracs. it has connectivity to the idracs, but cant login.
do i need to configure anything on openmanage first ? this is a brand new install.
Openmanage doesn’t use iDRAC credentials. Try using the local admin logon and password of the OS that openmanage is running on.

these are R630 servers running vmware… is there a way to manage them all under one UI ?
sorry if i missed the point of this
Depends on what you mean by “manage them under one UI” - Do you mean manage the physical hardware? If so, there are various Dell tools to do this.

what i’m trying to accomplish is to get the same (or similar) functionality as connecting to a specific iDrac, for multiple servers “under one roof”.
does such tool exist ?
Not that I’m aware of. Why do you want to connect to multiple iDRAC’s? What is the end result you want to see?

mainly hardware status, directly from the server UI (not snmp).
also, would be nice to have all the servers managed from a single place.
Again, define “managed”. What are you looking to manage?
Certainly some monitoring systems report hardware status, things like check_mk can do this.
