Hi there,

We’ve bee using Spiceworks for inventory for 3+ years now, helpdesk for about 2 years, and we have come to rely on it and in the past enjoy what it provides for us.

However, our inventory has grown to about 1600 items and at times, navigating the inventory pages is downright painful.

Helpdesk isn’t so bad, but at times we get 500 errors when trying to update a piece of inventory or just lookup an item.

Since growing to this many inventory items, I’ve installed a remote collector SW server at each of our 5 sites, plus a central installation for helpdesk. I wanted to take the load off the central server so that it only handles helpdesk and collects data from the remote installations.

Ever since splitting the main site server into 2 (one for inventory scanning + main for helpdesk and collecting), it seems we are losing data here and there.

The most disturbing being asset IDs. Two of our staff who swear they completed inventory on our last sweep claim they made sure to enter asset numbers, owner, location, etc… but that is gone. The “scannable” data is still there, like MAC, serial, IP, but any data that we would have to record is gone.

It’s not just a few items either… I have a report of about 300+ items now with no asset IDs, locations, people, etc…

Any ideas?

Thanks to all in advance!

Hi,

Is information missing only from devices? Is it devices on a specific site or is it random across all sites?
