Hello,

I’ve been using Spiceworks for a few months now and have used the Inventory capabilities a few times although I’ve noticed recently that new machines I setup within the network (and have the same windows machine as the previous decommissioned workstation) don’t seem to update with new info within the inventory but keep there old OS/software info

Is the problem simply Spiceworks keeping the old information and unable to update the new information (due to using the same machine names)?

Or is there something else I’m unaware of that’s going on.

Delete the old machine records. Check your Network Scan settings and turn off incremental scanning, at least until all machines are showing the correct specifications.

I’ve gone off and followed the steps above and everything looks good until I try to view a machine’s details. Where before I used to get the machines software/hardware listing I now get a “loading” screen indefinitely.

Let the scan complete and give SW time to compile all the data. On my server it can take several hours as we are currently scanning across a WAN. SW will find machines and show them before it has compiled the data. If it still does not work after a day, back up your database and do a complete scan again.
