We are running a print server on Server 2012 R2 Standard. Most of our Xerox MFPs are WorkCentres using the Global PCL6 driver, and we rarely have issues with them.

Now, we have two new Xerox Versalink C7025’s that are giving me problems. They were initially set up with the dedicated Versalink PCL driver. The documents would usually just get stuck in a spooling loop and never go through. Sometimes users report that their print job came through hours after they sent it. I have tried multiple tests setting it up with different drivers (the Versalink C7025 PS and the Global PCL). Each time, it’s good for about one job, and the rest just seem to get hung up in the queue for some reason.

Does anyone have a similar experiences with this model, or do you have any ideas?

I appreciate any and all input.

5 Spice ups

Hate to ask a simple thing, but are you sure the workstations have not auto installed a Microsoft IPP driver instead of the correct driver?

Not the IPP, but they sometimes show the Microsoft Enhanced Point and Print Driver. I don’t know how to change that.

With the Xerox Versalink printers I would check if they are on their latest firmware first.

I have had issues with HP LaserJet M402 model start printing slow, like 1 page every 30-45 seconds slow. Turned out they were plugged into a 10/100 switch because of only one port available in that workspace. Changed the switch to a gigabit and no more issues.

Verify basic network connectivity.
Check the available disk space on the print server.
Verify that you can establish a basic network connection.
Reinstall the printer driver.

Print from a different computer.
