LogMeIn Free is Ending...Now What?

Today ends the free service for the LogMeIn remote access software and I liked it a lot. It was free, after all, and as IT professionals, we like anything that can keep our costs down.

Since the service is ending, I was wondering aloud, “Gee, I wonder if there are any others out there which offer the same kind of service and are free/cheap.”

So, who better to ask than Google? I found a ton of answers, but nothing really stood out. I’ve seen TeamViewer, RemotePC, and a few others in action, but again, nothing really stands out above the rest as THE solution. So, I am now going to my IT brothers and sisters for your solution. What do you use? Why? Give me the benefits of the choice you’ve made and mention any caveats that you’ve worked around.

We decided to go with good’ol Microsoft Remote Assistance about a year ago.

It’s Free, easy to roll out to your domain using group policy.

I have not ran into any caveats.

I would have imagined when you typed “LogMeIn Free is Ending” as the title to your post you surely saw all of the post related to this in the Similar Questions section. It is OK if you didn’t.
