I just received the email from LogMeIn that they are discontinuing their Free product. Once notified, your account will convert to a paid account 7 days after your next login. I guess it’s time to install TeamViewer on my computers for remote access.

So long LogMeIn Free. You will be missed.

Ya, I just got the notice as well today stating the Logmein Free was ending today.

Time to look at Bomgar.

I really liked the way you could set a personal password in LogMeIn where the user would be presented with 10 drop boxes (if the password was 10 characters long) and the system would randomly pick three of the 10 characters in the password for the user had to pick the appropriate letters those positions.

I don’t know of any other product that does this.

What a shame. I loved LogMeIn for use at home.

Also, other discussion happening in the LogMeIn board since it’s more related to them as a company and not “freeware”, which it really isn’t. It would fall under “freemium”.

Annoying, not surprising, just annoying.

Luckily (for me anyway) LMI central will not be affected according to the FAQs- http://help.logmein.com/SelfServiceKnowledgeRenderer?type=FAQ&id=kA0a0000000shH8CAI

I imagine this is only temporary, I will be looking for a new solution…

I understand everyones upset at losing the free version. We have a logmein central account for the 250ish machines we look after and it costs us £96 a year and find it by far the cheapest and most realiable solution out there for remote work.

@egOAl what clients do you actually have installed on your workstation? Free or Pro?

I have LMI free installed on about 130 machines

Since they are in the process of consolidating all of their services into one offering, most likely to improve profitability numbers as alluded to in one of their blog entries, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of prices going up.

I’m sure it will increase, luckily I just renewed my annual subscription and supposedly LMI Free will still be available to LMI Central subscribers, so I have a little time to move to a new solution

That already happened recently.

Oh good, that’s what we have.

Nothing beats Teamviewer!

But for us who just use this for personal use, its a bloody pain in the ass, so long Logmein!

Mikogo may be a solution. http://www.mikogo.com/
