What is everyone going to use instead of logmein?

Here is the email i received…

Important message:
Your account will soon be limited
to 10 Free computers.

For nearly a decade, LogMeIn Free has provided unlimited free remote access to users on as many computers as they wish. In order to ensure that we can continue providing this free service and make meaningful improvements to it, we will be limiting the number of accessible Free computers in all remote access accounts to 10. The good news is, this change will not affect the vast majority of our users who can continue to use the service free of charge.

But some users, like you, are affected by this change and need to know what happens next.
In order to have more than 10 Free computers in your account, you’ll need a paid subscription of LogMeIn Central. To help ease the transition, we are extending a special offer on Central for
just £117/year.

With Central, you get more functionality at an affordable rate to make your life easier. LogMeIn Central unlocks remote access for more than 10 computers and gives you more power and control when managing them from one location.

• Group and sort your computers to locate and access them instantly
• Remotely deploy LogMeIn Free software
• Manage user access and set permissions to stay in control
• And much more

Should you choose not to upgrade, only the first 10 Free computers in your account, according to alphabetical order, will be shown as available. Other computers will not be deleted, but they will not be remotely accessible unless you unlock access by upgrading to Central. These changes will take effect in just a few weeks, so act now to take advantage of our special rate.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you for many years to come.

Sincerely,
The LogMeIn Team

Why is the price not listed in dollars? odd.

I just found this email in my spam folder in gmail. Seems like a phishing email to me.

Bait and switch on a mega scale… Time to start looking for something else I guess.

I guess I am wrong: LogMeIn Accounts

It’s too bad, for a long time they have said it would always be free. Technically it still is, but now limited.

I just received this too. It was more of a convenience for me when I’m out of the office and someone had an issue. Other than that, I rarely used it. Definitely not worth $200 per year. I guess it’s time to setup two accounts…

EDIT: Nevermind, I’m going to hunt for another solution. This seems to be a ploy by the company to drum up some more revenue. I’m done.

I just sent Steve a message. Not sure if it’ll make a difference since he doesn’t seem very active in the Spiceworks community.

This may help some others also.

Took the letters right out of my keyboard! #BaitAndSwitch!

Honestly, a company has the right to change things. It’s been free for almost forever. Not that I’m happy or anything, but they have a right to make money. Not really bait and switch.

Well that sucks… I’ve been using logmein to manage my families computers for years.

I’ve got like 27 computers setup across the country to help my Brother, Sisters, Parents and Aunts& Uncles.

And I don’t think I want to spend $300/yr to help them occasionally. What a bummer…

I got the same email. I’ve always liked LogMeIn, and even paid for the app when it came out on the iPad. May be stuck paying annually now.

Absolutely they have a right, but what was their intention when they first started? Get people hooked on using it, depending on it, then bam! charge a fee for it. If so, I would call that Bait and Switch.

Again, how many years has this been totally free? I agree it sucks, but it has been out there free for awhile.
