Hi,
I’ve just had an email informing me that LogMein will no longer be free. I use it quite often to remote into the servers from home and a few colleagues connect to their desktops. Can anyone recommend an alternative that is similar?

It should be free for up to 10 computers: https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/.
If you have more than that, you can get LogMeIn Central for $200 or so per year and manage all of your computers running LogMeIn Free.

The recent changes do not impact Central customers. You can continue to maintain, and deploy, free hosts.

Hi Ben,
Who is a central customer? on my LogMein it tells me that logmein free will not be available soon!

That’s a trial and does not look like it will stay FREE. I’m going to switch to another provider.

Central is a paid subscription which supports the deployment of free and paid hosts.

Thank you for the explanation - I think that’s a poor move my LogMein and they have just lost a customer, I’ve got all my servers running Teamviewer now.

Bad move LogMeIn
I’ve been using LogMeIn (free and paid for varieties) for at least 8 years
now I need to move my personal computers to another service (and business related machines will follow)
http://www.remobo.com/ looks like a good option

I do see value in your Products
I just don’t like the way this is going
Looks like LogMeIn is in serious financial trouble

You are losing me too. I loved LogMeIn - and often demonstrated it during my classes abroad (accessing my test clusters here at home from abroad).
I hope you guys reconsider.

remobo doesn’t seem to work too well
TeamViewer it is
@Ben
I (and expect many others in this community) have supported LogMeIn for years, it is LogMeIn that has stopped supporting us and we hope you (LogMeIn) reconsider this move, although by now the damage is already done

While I don’t mind paying for services I find valuable, the 7-day timeout seems unnecessarily punitive.
2 weeks is standard notice when changing jobs. 30 days for mission-critical services seems the least you could do.

We appreciate the support and the value you see in our products. Please let us know if you have any questions about our offerings.
Sadly your replies are not helpful (you sound like an answer machine) and the support that you appreciate has been lost, and you have also lost value in your products because you no longer offer a free service unlike so many of your competitors.

This is a poor marketing decision on the part of LogMeIn and it will come back to haunt them. I have a Central account and will now have to group all of my free accounts into it. Luckily I can afford to keep this account going but it is going to be a true hardship for many, and springing it on everyone at the last second is a really bad move. Good luck recovering from this one - and watch for the “short” recommendation for the stocks to be coming soon…
