I am trying to make sure our network is monitored by SW. The switches are properly inventoried in SW but when I look at the individual ports to see the bandwidth histograms I receive this error every time: Not enough data present to show interesting history. Check back later. I have SNMP setup and it seems to be working because the scan is completing successfully. I have about 12 switches on this network and they are all doing the same thing. Thoughts?

How long has it been since you started the process? One day worth of data isn’t going to chart anything.

Since the switch was installed about 4 years ago. But it wasn’t until recently that I wanted to start looking at the bandwidth.

As Rockn said, it may take maybe at least 24 hours for it to start getting data. Patience is virtue, grasshopper

Correct - but like I said - it has been on the network for 4 years and Spiceworks has been running for 10 years. Not sure what to make of this error.

Okay, when did you start pointing Spiceworks to your switches via SNMP?

Well over a year or 2 ago. I am redoing all the snmp settings on the switch now to make sure there isn’t a small error somewhere. I did find one that scanned correctly - but the SNMP settings were the same as the others.

UnderDog, did you ever find out why the data wasn’t present? I’m having the same issue on the beta 7.2. I’m running it on two boxes, (version 7.2.0020 and 7.2.0048) and they are not collecting data. I have made sure they are in the Utilization scan group, and know the snmp string is valid (it dumps data on snmpwalk). Just curious what you found out.

I redid all the SNMP settings on the swtiches and confirmed with the SW settings. All is good now and I have great data coming through.

Thanks for the update. My data on one switch is 8 days old (about the time I put on 7.2beta.00020) 7.2.00048 does get anything either. I’m at a loss why they quit reporting to Spiceworks. SNMPWALK will gather whatever I want so I know the community is good, and I walk it from both servers so I know 161/UDP isn’t blocked. I may reset and go forward as well. Thank you for the update.

Yeah - I have seen that issue still - where it won’t get updated. Before it wasn’t even updating. I just checked and my switches are all a bit different. The last scan / update time on the general page says today, but the interfaces page says stats are from 1 month ago!! That is odd - not sure why…
