Wow, almost like it was yesterday. The way time flies these days maybe it was. Ironically the artist charting in at 66 has the same name as a horse our company sponsored for a race at the local track. I have never heard any of these songs.
10 - Khalid “Talk”
15 - Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper “Shallow”
17 - benny blanco, Halsey & Khalid “Eastside”
62 - Kelsea Ballerini “Miss Me More”
66 - Panic! At The Disco “Hey Look Ma, I Made It”

Heres where I realise why I stopped listening to the charts sometime in the 10’s. I’m just not feeling much of the music these days.
Sure there is still some good new bands I like, but like the dominant genres atm probably aren’t for me.

I am completely unfamiliar with any of these. Except, I think I have heard “Shallow,” possibly?

One of the things that I enjoy about living in these “interesting times” is that it’s really easy to find music services that will recommend music you actually enjoy.
Unfortunately, the algorithms get it wrong sometimes (and when they do, it makes me miss the days when the songs on Pandora radio were all hand-tagged to the point where the tags were often longer than the lyrics,) but there’s sooo many people making music now that there’s always something for everyone

I tend to listen to Absolute Radio during the day - there is era versions of that station too - 60’s, 70’s 80’s 90’s 00’s and 10’s but I listen to the general one that mixes it up a bit, over a week you may find the same bands tend to get more air time, but they do change the song, e.g. you might hear fleetwood mac every day but its a different song each day, I have heard Everywhere, Dreams, The Chain, Go Your Own Way, Little Lies, Silver Spring, Gypsy, Rhianne, Don’t stop… etc etc at different points, and the same song i not repeated between 9am and 5pm.
But yes I do use Spotify to pick music to play or create playlists around similar music.

Oh boy, that triggered a memory… My high school Spanish teacher and I were talking about that song once and another student chimed in talking about the artist Rihanna.
When we mentioned that’s not who/what we were talking about she corrected us and told us the song was called “Rhiannon” and if that’s what we were talking about, we should have said it correctly. That started a big argument that took over the whole classroom, mostly because of the way she corrected us, even though she turned out to be right!

You are correct about correct title, I was doing from memory tbh.

I used Pandora for a couple of months and ended up buying so many CDs of the new bands I’d found that it was getting really expensive. Decided that I probably knew enough bands at that point

This is the only one I knew, but that’s only because you couldn’t hardly get away from that one. Never saw the movie and honestly had no idea Bradley Cooper could even sing. I’m actually going to have to add Kelsea Ballerini “Miss Me More” to a play list, though. That one’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing (as always)!
I’ve heard of Panic at the Disco, but don’t think I’ve heard the song. I associate panic and discos with The Smiths.

Everytime I hear of the Smiths I think of MoJo Nixon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGB7M82z4j4

That’s a brilliant parody. On a related subject I recently learned “Getting Away With It” by Electronic is Johnny Marr venting at Morrissey, despite sounding like a New Order track.

Electronic (band) - Wikipedia
Electronic were an English alternative dance supergroup formed by singer/guitarist Bernard Sumner (of New Order) and guitarist Johnny Marr (of the Smiths). They co-wrote the majority of their output between 1989 and 1998, collaborating with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys on three tracks in their early years, and former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos on nine songs in 1995.
Neil Tennant also provided guest vocals on Getting Away With It.
