Is there a way to create a purchase and have it sent to a specific person for approval and only allow a certain user to approve the purchase?

Not at the moment. There is a feature request somewhere (I’m sure of it) for granular purchasing work-flow.
–EDIT–
Here it is: http://community.spiceworks.com/feature_request/show/Purchasing/1430
Spice it up, I know I will…!

Not in the way that you want I don’t think. You would need to set that person up as an admin in SpiceWorks, then create the ticket and assign it to them. They would get the email of the new ticket with the purchase request.

Not a big deal but would be a nice feature without attatching it to a ticket… Thanks for the fast response I am loving spiceworks so far… Another option I wish it has was an option to purchase… Dont get me wrong I LOVE IT being free haha just sometime the ads get overwhelming but hey I can put up with that if its free

lol - yeah. There is a capability to request a quote from your vendor using the built-in tools. Simply enter some items in your purchase list (don’t assign a vendor to them or a price), then click on ‘request quote’ at the upper right-hand corner of the page. You can select a few pre-defined vendors to request quotes through, or you can define your own. It is VERY cool.
