We have a WAN setup - 1 main site, with 4 smaller sites (all with windows domains/networks)
All on on a similar IP scheme - 10.0.A.XX (A depends on which site)
We all conenct using a special VPN setup (and managed) by our ISP - Tesltra (aus)
I’ve tried endlessly to get spiceworks to pickup the devices at the remote sites - it finds them, by they all get errors like " No open ports for this device were found…" or “The true identity of this network device is unknown.”
For some assets (moslty PC’s) I get their name and manufacturer
As far as we can tell, there’s not hardware firewall between the links to the sites - just the one for internet - but I can’t think of any other explanation

Has anyone had any success in a similar situation to this, or know of soenmthign I can try?

Hi Jackson,

If this recently happened after an upgrade to 3.2 (if you can’t find this setting, you probably have an earlier revision of 3.2. Download the latest to find it), try the following setting:

  • Open Spiceworks and browse to the Settings → Advanced Options page.

  • Click the Looking for additional settings? link at the bottom of the page.

  • Find the Use ip address for WMI setting and set the value to true.

  • Browse to the Settings → Network Scan page and start a new scan.

If it’s still not working, I or helpful people out in the community can probably give you a few more pointers.

That seems to have done the trick!
I set it to scan 1 remote site, and it’s now picking up the server just fine - hard drive space and all
One PC that I was testing yesterday is now giving user authenticaiton errors - but at least it’s connecting
