hello,
i manage 2 geographically seperate facilities and 2 seperate domains. i have both domains setup in my network scans but i can’t get Spiceworks to fully see my other domain. More specifically, the Spicework scan will pick up the device and IP, but will pull no information about the device and shows Spiceworks error:
No open ports for this device were found to be responding. This typically means that there is a firewall or permission issue preventing remote access. Please see the help section.
Clear this error
Now, couple of quick facts about the environment.
W2K3 SP2 - servers
XP SP2 - clients
ISA server running at both facilities
Spiceworks installed on server at ONLY ONE location
yes, i have followed the instructions about disabling ENFORCE STRICT RPC COMPLIANCE which is what has me scratching my head b/c i don’t have this issue w/ the scans of the network where Spiceworks is installed. only when i try to scan the remote/network domain. i don’t believe it’s a domain credentials issue b/c i don’t see that error in spiceworks and i made sure that my seperate domain credentials are in place for the scan of the remote domain.
i tried a re-scan of just the remote domain and it pulls all the workstations and servers as UNKNOWNS. even pulls one laptop as an HTTP DEVICE.
weird.
not a HUGE issue. just bugs me #1 b/c i can’t get it to work #2 would save me a ton of time to have full Spiceworks inventory/device info for the remote site b/c i wind up having to physically drive over there everytime an issue occurs.
so ideas or thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.
thanks

Im assuming you’re using a frame relay or MPLS? if so then you just neet to enable remote admin on those boxes and make sure your scan is using the correct domain admin credentials. You also need to make sure port 135 is open between the two segments so you can access WMI otherwise it will just see the device but not be able to scan it.
