Hello!

I’ve currently uninstalled and updated software on multiple devices. When I ran a new scan, none of those changes show to have taken place on Spiceworks inventory and reporting. I have tried the following fixes that I found on the forums

  1. Change the scan speed from medium to slow

  2. Scanner sends all data instead of deltas is turned on

  3. Completely deleted and reinventory of my devices

So far, the inventory has not changed at all. I’ve tried looking at multiple applications I’ve updated or removed, including Adobe, iTunes…etc

1 Spice up

If completely removing all entries and rescanning isnt pulling in the changes, the clients must still have remnants of the old software.
What software have you removed?
What does last scan and last updated times show on a single inventoried item?

Hey Rod!

It’s a decently sized list, but the easy ones are iTunes, Spotify, and Paint.NET

Checking on my own personal computer, I don’t see iTunes on my computer but it shows up in my inventory report on Spiceworks

Maybe I didn’t clear the inventory right. All I did was delete my devices and rescanned. Is there a better approach?

Do you see iTunes in your add/remove programs in control panel?

Also, where can I check scan times?

Also please confirm that your item in SW does show recent last scanned and last updated times

I do not.

Sorry for the double post but I found where to check the times. Last scanned and updated time is the last time I scanned

Last Updated Time:05-24-2017 @ 01:01 pm

Last Scan Time:05-24-2017 @ 01:01 pm

Just had this issue. I had to select each device separately and select tools, rescan on each device and the next day the new software showed up in inventory.

Eventhough, my update time was the same as last scan time , until i invoked the rescan, the changed software (new and deleted) did not update the software list

I will try the individual scanning method and let you know if that will work.I hope this isn’t a permanent fix as I have about 400 devices! LOL

One last item, some uninstalls to not clean the registry all the way so you may have to go in the registry and remove that part of the hive (backup reg first)

Running Spiceworks Version 7.5.00101 – having the same issue with the software only updating it I run a manual scan on each device – noticed because I was checking how many of my Desktop/Laptops were running the latest version of Windows 10. Sure hope this gets fixed in the next release.

Its not a release issue or a bug, Spiceworks scans incrementally, so doesn’t update everything constantly.

You have several ways to change this behavior.

  1. Wait, within a week this should have updated (depending on your scan settings)

  2. Manually run in scans the ones you need an instant update on

  3. Go to your scan settings (settings, inventory, device scanning), disable the range, add it again and scan (essentially replacing it with itself), this should initiate full scan again

  4. turn off delta scanning (hits the network and guests harder)

If some of these are not working for you, disable all apps (settings, manage apps, disable all, restart SW) and let it plod on a day by itself, old apps cause all sorts of weird

I’ve been fighting this off and on for years now. Does Spiceworks provide “recommended” scan settings? I have adjusted mine so many times troubleshooting that I can’t recall the defaults.

If I could just read about what to expect when the settings are x, y, and z, I would be happy.

Not sure what you mean by recommendations, but Windows devices use WMI, Linux/Mac and some routers use SSH/Telnet and network devices use SNMP

This document appears to answer nearly ever question I had. I guess I should have looked a bit harder.
