Official "I made the next pepper level" thread

There have been a rash of new topics from people celebrating getting to the next pepper level. We are excited for you and want to celebrate your contribution, but having an individual topic for each time is getting to be too much. It is overwhelming the Water Cooler group because people have to wade through the pepper level posts to get to the rest of the topics.

We’re also seeing some point gaming where people are just saying “get your 11 points!” rather than just talking about their leveling up. Points are fun, but we don’t want to make getting points an end in itself.

To try and remedy this, I’m making this the official topic in which to post when you level up. Everyone can congratulate you here when you add to this thread celebrating your next level. Since you only get points once for posting in a thread, this also gets around the point gaming since you won’t get points every time you say “congrats!” in this topic.

From here on out I’ll delete any new topics posting about pepper levels and point the person who made the post to this topic. Datils please feel free to do the same.

To kick this off, I do want to say a special congratulations to akp982 for getting to Double Pure Capsaicin (what does it mean?!) today!

Members in Spiceworks are categorized by “pepper level.” The more you participate, the more points you accumulate, and the higher your pepper level! Points are given for posting topics, replying to topics, providing best answers, posting how-tos, writing product reviews, and lots of other stuff. You can see the breakdown of each level and how many points it takes to reach by going here . You’ll also notice a link towards the end of that page that will bring you to your points so you can see what you’ve already received points for and what you can gain points in.

If you’re just now starting out, you may still be a Pimiento. Pimientos are somewhat restricted in their activities, as our team has to first make sure that you’re not just a bot, a spammer, or a non-pro home user. But once you really start participating, you won’t be a Pimiento for long. The fastest way to level up is to fill out your profile ! Be thorough enough, and it’ll be worth a quick and easy 100 points for you.

Needless to say, SpiceHeads are often very proud when they reach the next pepper level and they want to share the news with their fellow IT pros. Understandable! So we created this thread just for this purpose – the Official “I made the next pepper level” thread which has been going strong since 2011!

You’ll sometimes hear mentions of someone behing a “Spicy Pepper”. This is in reference to a group that SpiceHeads are invited to once they reach the Thai Pepper level. This group is often thought of as being the “elders” of the community since it does take some time and dedication to reach that level of engagement.

I made Serrano earlier this week (or was it last week, the days all blur together). I was pretty surprised I made it that high.

Seriously, though, this is a great idea. Although I’m happy for everyone spicing up to the next level, deep down, I really don’t care. I hope that doesn’t sound like I’m being an a-hole about it.

I think we can blame Andy for starting this craze. Even if he isn’t responsible, we should still blame him for it.

I’m in a “who cares” mood about this post just for points issue - those who do that will eventually go away or wise up. Although I do care about Andy getting Double Cap! Way to go Andy! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me - double vision!
