Hello to my IT big brothers :-),

I’m new to this community and I’m also a beginner in using the software Spiceworks.

Please I need help as to what could be the problem when every I try to scan my inventory.

I have checked and turn my windows firewall “off” for my home network. I have also added the “spiceworks” application to the exception list for firewall-blocked apps. Despite my efforts, spiceworks keeps on returning this “Hold up a minute, we couldn’t find any devices. Can you point us in the right direction?”

Thanks in advance.

you need to allow WMI incoming on the machines.

I was having this same error after install. I just add my local pc user and password under scan settings → WMI Account then i ran the scan again and got results.

My network is just a workgroup so i maybe need to add all users accounts to get less errors and a more detailed scan.

yes, in a workgroup you need to add in each account and also make sure the local firewall allows the remote-admin and ping through.

Alternatively you could just add the remote-agent onto each machine

And ‘more’ alternatively you could add the same user / password (with local admin rights) to each pc in workgroup and scan all pcs just with that one account.
