I installed Spiceworks in my Windows Server 2012 to monitor all my windows 7 workstations and switches in our non domain network. Currently, it only scans properly the Host PC and our two switches. Then almost all of the devices (about 100 computers) are having errors and unknown. What should i do to solve this problem except from upgrading our network to domain? I am so excited to use this Spiceworks in order to scan and monitor all our network devices. Please help. Thanks

By default, only the built-in Windows Administrator account is a member of the Local Administrators Group. Because of this and the way the Spiceworks scan settings work, you’re going to need to create the same Admin login account on each of your devices. You can then use this login with your scan range in Spiceworks to get proper authentication to each device.

You’ll also need to make sure you’ve allowed the firewall ports inbound as well, per machine.

Thank you! Did you mean sir that i have to add account in WMI in global settings and that account must be the same with the local admin account of all the client computers to monitor?

you’ll need an account that has WMI privs on each machine.

But I have to say with 100 machines you’re well within the realms that AD makes sense in anycase. This is just another example where AD makes things simpler at this scale

How could i do that sir.
