To preface- I have scoured the threads looking for a fix, and nothing I have tried has seemed to work, so this is an attempted at bringing some directed attention to this issue I am sure some people are still having.
To reiterate:
Upon trying to load spiceworks desktop, I get the loading splash, which will run continuously, when clicked will disappear and seems to load again for about 10 minutes when randomly a new tab will open directed at my localhost saying the site was unreachable or not responding.
So far I have tried:
toggling to and from “run in service mode”
changing the port to unused ports as well as trying 9675 and port 80
I have tried reinstalling, both with thee current version, as well as deleting the directory entirely and installing fresh
some helpful information- upon monitoring netstat I found that there was a SYN-SENT on the status, and no SYN-ACK, this leads me to belive that the webserver is not launching entirely, or not at all. My startup logs seem to denote no issues, such as the APACHE server not starting (as some users have been reporting)
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated- as this is an extremely useful program that just seemed to stop working out of the blue.

What OS are you installing Spiceworks on? I’ve found that on my 2008 server, when I restart the machine or reinstall/upgrade Spiceworks, upon the first launch there are a couple security dialogs that come up regarding network access. (I know they can be disabled… I’m IT therefore lazy)
Do you see these at all on the server? One comes up on initial access to the application, and another when the scanner starts.
This is actually on windows XP.
I have for these purposes disabled the firewall as well
No security dialogues, and even tried running the program itself as both local, and domain administrator.

so it was working fine and suddenly it stopped by the sounds of it.
Have to tried disabling any anti-virus you have on the machine and turning off any firewall?
Martin,
Yes, I have disabled the firewall as well as the antivirus,
I even went as far as to tell the program to run in service mode explicitly as the system, and domain admins.

I would suggest sending an email to support@spiceworks.com and have them take a look at this.

I have the same issue on a Win XP machine. Have re-installed, tried different ports, tried running as a service, disabled AV and firewall, and program still will not load.
Initially it worked and then suddenly stopped working. Have poured through the forum but not found a fix. Seems like a nice program, but what good is it if it will not load.

Hi John,
As Benhar mentioned above, it’s best to email us at support@spiceworks.com and we can look at your logs to see what could preventing Spiceworks from starting. Almost always it’s something environmental on that machine and we can determine the cause by looking at the logs. Thanks!
I sent in a request a few hours ago- with the information listed above.
I am still waiting for technical assistance, but if said assistance is successful I will be sure to post the methods used to this thread.
