Hello Spiceheads,

My Spiceworks launcher will not start.

It gets stuck saying Starting Up…

I have tried going through the browser and removing the splash as other users have in other help posts but no luck.

Where do I go from here?

  1. It is not supported on Windows 10 (in case you have it installed here - some do have it working though)

  2. Change the port (right click the icon in the system tray, and pick a port other than what it is on) stop the service and start again.

To any port? Any suggestions?

Hi,

How far does it make it in that load bar? Can you upload a screenshot?

For my reply - yes any other port, assuming you are not sharing the server with other applications (which you shouldn’t really do).

Thank you for your interest in this Rod-IT and JamesD, I have uploaded a screen shot of how far it gets.

That to me says its a port conflict.

You never mentioned the OS you have this on, but I am going to refer you back to changing the port.

Any port you choose, but it’s looking like port 80 is in use by something else, typically IIS or Apache - are you installing this on a shared server? If not disable IIS as this is most likely the culprit. If you do have it on a shared server, consider moving it to it’s own, but as a minimum, use another port.

VC in the name isn’t virtual centre is it?

I agree with Rod, this sounds like a port conflict. Like Rod mentioned, lets try a new port. Maybe 9575/9576.

Just changed the port and will let you know how it goes.

Thank you Both very much

Thank you guys, I hope I have given the appropriate points to you both, if not please tell me how to correct them

If you want to use port 80 you need to disable whatever is running on it first then change the port back.

I am guessing if this is Windows 8/8.1/2008/2012 it’s likely IIS, if you don’t use it disable it, if you are using it, then this is a shared server and while not recommended will run so long as the ports don’t clash.

Points - all points welcome, I’m heading for the top, they all count.
