Hi,

I’m trying to get two different external URLs for usage on Spiceworks, a portal one for users and a dashboard one for admins.

Due to how ISA/TMG works, to keep it secured I will need it to use HTTPs, and thus, need a certificate.

Basically, does anyone know how to export the certificate from Spiceworks WITH the private key?

As all my attempts thus far to make a custom one and import it have failed.

With my recent attempt bizzarley over-writing the openssl.exe in the Spiceworks bin folder, despite following the many guide on here to perform the process to the letter!

I’m at the end of my tether!

Hi Intellident,

The SSL files are at at C:\Program Files (x86)\Spiceworks\httpd\ssl\

There you’ll find the private key - ssl-private-key.pem and the certificate - ssl-cert.pem.

Sorry, but I am a little confused, do you want to use the self-signed certificate that Spiceworks already has or are you looking to use a certificate from a Certificate Authority?

For ease of use, i want to export the cert WITH the private key in a common format that can be used by ISA or TMG.

And failing that, give Spiceworks a SSL where i already have a private key exported.

How do i add in a certificate ive bought from a cert authority, such as godaddy?

I’m working on writing a How-to about the steps involved in this type of setup. Could you please send an email to support@spiceworks.com letting me know what step you’re at with your purchase of the cert and I’ll give you some steps to take?

Ah, hopefully I’ll have my how-to done by then, just working with a few folks to make sure my steps work with their certificate authorities (CA) :slight_smile:

For an overview: with CAs like GoDaddy, you’ll create a private key and a certificate signing request (CSR). You send the CSR to them and get back your cert. Then you replace the two SSL related files already in Spiceworks with three new files - your private key, an intermediate certificate and the CA assigned certificate. The intermediate is the new addition to the SSL files, it’s another link the the chain to the trusted root CAs.

Once you have the three files in place, then there’s a change to a httpd.conf file that Apache uses and you should be good to go.
