Hi everyone, I have a few clients that need to update their 10+ year old switches in the very near future. I’ve been using the Ubiquity UniFi WAPs lately and absolutely love them. I was just curious if anyone has purchased their switches and what your experience has been so far? Thanks!

I’ve got one on order for the end of this month.
If you’re going with UniFi switches (the white ones) they’re all PoE, and can be managed via UniFi (obviously). They have Edge Switches (black, or dark grey) which are managed via command line, and they’re not PoE (although it may be an option–can’t remember).
When I get mine in this month, it’ll be the first time I’ve got switch and WAPs on the same setup. I’m looking forward to it.

I have a Unifi switch. 24 port. Pretty much does anything you need it to. There are a few advanced features on the Unifi line that are not currently supported by the software.
The hardware on the Unifi switches is pretty much identical to the Edge switch but with a different software and a different chassis color.
However the Unifi line does not yet support everything that an edge switch does.
IGMP in particular is what I have noticed. Other than that it has supports everything else that I use my HP switches for.
The Unifi switch is my office/lab switch for setting up workstations and testing with.
Good switch cant beat the price.

Edge switches are 802.3af/at as well as 24v passive. So are the Unifi switches.

I have a 375w 24 port EdgeSwitch, it was a bargain for what it does. Liked it so much I picked up a 500w, still in the box though. Virtually all my PoE switches are 8 port HP 1910’s, but there is nothing wrong with the big switches Ubiquiti makes.

Have 5 new Ubiquiti switches boxed in my office right now. Hope to deploy them to replace Netgear junk before Christmas yet.

Thanks everyone! I think we will be going this route.

Thanks for the info! I’ve also got HP switches currently, and they’re 2-3x the price of these Ubiquiti ones, but the HPs I’ve got are 10/100, ick. I’m about to get Google Fiber at work and equipment upgrades are LOW on the list right now… lol.

I have one edgeswitch deployed because I installed a bunch of UBNT cameras and didn’t want a bunch of injectors. It seems to work well. I’ll be configuring VLANS on it pretty soon. I’ve also got a tough switch waiting to be deployed (for the same customer) because he wanted some cams at a remote building. Both switches seem pretty solid. I’ve always been used to Cisco ESW and SGE switches and a couple of Dell serie switches.

I just deployed one of the Unifi switches along with 3 Unifi WAPs and it was a flawless installation. Great products! I will certainly be buying again.
