I’m trying to install the Unitrends agent on a 64-bit install of Ubuntu 11.10.

In order to even begin the installation you have to install the ia32-libs package.

Once you rerun the agent install, it informs you of further dependencies that need to be addressed.

In my case the remaining 32-bit libraries are libXmu.so.6 and libxm12.so.2.

So far, I haven’t had any luck getting them installed using apt or the third party tool, getlibs.

I can call support but it’s 15 minutes until quittin’ time and I figured that I’m not the only one that’s going to come across this problem. So for the benefit of myself and the community at large, I ask here in hopes that someone can help me get this working without having to make a support call.

I’ll post this in the Backup group but if the Linux group is more appropriate, please feel free to move it.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Ok, so I had to call support anyway.

They said they’re getting their knowledge base ready to go public in the next couple of months but in the meantime…

The current workaround is the following:

Install ia32-libs

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Create a temporary directory at

sudo mkdir /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

For each of the following libraries create a symbolic link
