hello all one of my users change the password for the admin account on his laptop and I need to get information from that latptop I need some help finding a good tool that I can use to change that admin account any help would be greatly appreciated

Go and download UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD). Not only does it contain the NT Offline Password Reset Utility but many other useful tools.

If you’re using Group Policy, you can update local admin accounts, too!

If the user is within the domain, you may try using Lepide local user management tool that is available free and helps to reset users password within few clicks.

Hiren’s Boot CD is illegal, I would recommend the Ultimate Boot CD too.

Apparently it uses WinPE and mini winxp in a premade ISO which is copyright infringement, however microsoft has stated they will not be pursuing actions on this. I’m finding a lot of conversation on it but nothing concrete outside of it having technically copyright info on it.

If you have a windows 7 dvd you can change the password that way as well.

If the laptop is on domain, then you can just login using domain admin. You can change the local admin password as a domain admin as well.
