Can you post the error message? Do you have Remote Administration enabled and are you using an administrator account for scanning?

sorry about the late reply, here is the screen shot for one of the pc’s in spiceworks.

wmi2.tiff (70.3 KB)

I checked out the link you sent me under the WMI link, im not sure if I should create a script for this or there is another work around for WMI

Try using the script from the link list I posted earlier.

I used the script but that didnt resolve the issue either. I’m still getting the WMI error message on spiceworks. This morning I upgraded spiceworks to the latest version 6.1.0110 and still I keep getting the same error.

Are the workstations Win7/XP pro or home?

the workstations are win xp professional and win 7 professional or ultimate

Just to double check, did you go through each item listed in the link collection step by step?

I created a batch file for the scrip and ran it, because it would do the following on it own

This script is the start of one to help resolve Spiceworks Unknowns.

It will:

1) Rebuild WMI (will give a couple of errors on win7 but will work ok)
2) Setup the firewall
3) Setup DCOM
4) Win7 and Vista disable UAC (requires reboot)

Yesterday I also enabled DNS Scavenging and nothing changed in spiceworks for me. not sure what else can i do i’ve enabled all the ports which spiceworks uses, is there anything im missing ?

Without doing a remote session to try to help you, which would require that we set up a support contract, there’s not much I can do for you through this forum. What you could try is to email support@spiceworks.com for free support and they may have some other ideas. For me, I always check the firewall, anti-virus, and everything else mentioned in the link I placed here earlier.

Thanks Grey…I’ll e-mail spiceworks.
