I wanted to pass along some information that might help others.
We just upgraded our Servers a few weeks ago to Windows Server 2019. After the upgrade the Xerox 4265 Workcentre scanners were no longer scanning to the network, it just fails and doesn’t give any real information about what the issue is.
I tried multiple things - checked the rights on the folder, checked the userid / password on the network and updated the scanner to ensure it matched, I tried creating a new folder and updated the rights/share, checked the firmware and it was at the latest of 50.004.00.000.
Nothing worked - when I was checking the Xerox support page and searching for any other firmware I came to the realization that I should have picked up on before - Server 2019 is not supported by the Xerox 4265 firmware. Thankfully I do have one Server 2016 still running and I pointed the scanner to that server with a newly created folder/share and it worked perfectly.
I talked to copier support person and he stated that he has a newer firmware 50.004.13.000 that is about a year newer but I can’t find it anywhere on the internet. So I am waiting to see if I can get a copy of it and test it to see if it will allow the copier to scan to the 2019 server. I will update this discussion if that does or doesn’t work.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I did a Google search for 50.004.13.000 and found this: WorkCentre 4265 Version V50.004.13.000 - WorkCentre 4265 - Xerox
Looks like it’s mainly a CVE security fix.
Usually scan to folder failure is related to SMB version (also check for wrong credentials and wrong share path). SMB 1 will be disabled on Server 2019. The 4265 supports SMB 3 which is what you should be using: https://securitydocs.business.xerox.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xerox-Device-SMB-Supported-Versions_v2.0.pdf
What SMB version do you have set on your 4265?

I swear I have no luck with Google finding things for me because I did multiple searches and didn’t find that firmware. Thank you for finding it. So as I mentioned I tested and verified the path and the credentials in my initial post no luck there and it worked just fine when I repointed it to the 2016 server with the same exact settings. I tried looking at the SMB but there is only one option for it in the scanner settings which I was assuming that is likely why the copier can’t talk to the 2019 Server as it is likely using a newer version.
I did a comparison between the 2016 Server and 2019 Server and the SMB1 was disabled on the 2019 Server but it was still enabled on the 2016 Server. I have enabled the SMB1 on the 2019 Server for now and it started allowing scans right away so that was definitely the issue. Now I have to determine how I can get the Scanner to use SMB2 or SMB3 instead of SMB1.
I have not tried updating the firmware so that made no difference on this issue.

Is SMB set to use port 139 on the Xerox 4265? if so, have you tried setting to port 445 (which I believe is what SMBv3 uses)? Also check it’s not blocked in Windows firewall.
