Forgive me if this has been covered. I did some searching through the other related threads and have not found a solutions. I have 5 new laptops just added to our domain. Normally my nightly scan will have the new machine inventoried and ready to go the next day, but these five have not. I have confirmed that the firewall is down and am able to ping the computers from the Spiceworks server. I have checked my DNS settings and made sure that there are not any rouge entries that might cause an issue. I also went through the Resolving Unknown Devices in Spiceworks support and used the WMIC command and was successfully able to pull the serial number of the machine. However after rerunning the network scan it still shows the IP of that computer as grey or “Open”. I ran a discovery scan against just its IP and it does come up with the computer name when the credentials are requested, by it never shows up in inventory and the IP still shows as “Open”. When I run the http://spiceworkserver/fixit , no entries show up under the “What device are you using”. I have a feeling it might be something I have overlooked maybe or just plain forgot… but I am a little stumped. Any help would be appricated! This is a great community and I regularly find solutions here far quicker than anywhere else.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Okay, we need to delete a few devices. There are a few devices (3 by my count) that show this in the report:

:port: Default

Can you go to the inventory page and delete those devices? Once they are deleted, restart Spiceworks. Once Spiceworks comes back up, run a scan for the IP range that includes the 5 computers that are not showing up, plus the 3 devices you deleted.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer
Forgive me if this has been covered. Usually, when you have errors like that, you would still see the device in the Inventory. It would just be logged as an unknown. The fact that it was not picked up at all is making me questions whether the scans are even running properly, or at all. Are you going to be trying that solution and attempting the rescan again? Once the machines have the agent, they will not get scanned in until the agent gets removed.

{"@type":"Person
jaimedelapaz
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jaimedelapaz"}},{"@type":"Answer
Okay, I removed the agent and deleted the device in the inventory.
