Hi, y’all - Chad here. Well, I did it - I SURVIVED SPICEWORLD!! I hope you all did, too. While I was sweating off approximately half my body weight, I also managed to enjoy some good food, some great live music, and there’s a chance I may have made some new friends! So basically, SpiceWorld met all of my sweat-drenched expectations.
But now it’s back to the real world, so let’s do a wrap-up, why not!
Some Top-Performing Posts by Brand Reps in August (yes, it’s still relevant!!)
These are some* posts from brand reps with the most engagement/best stats. Doesn’t matter the topic or category, this is just good-old-fashioned communication. In no particular order, here are some of their most-engaged-with posts.
Contests
Eaton strikes again! @mikedecamp gave everyone a reason to engage with a great contest last month . I mean, who doesn’t like bobbleheads? See you on eBay!
In case you didn’t see it, @aleks-nakivo also let everyone get in on their new beta program while getting a gift card in return.
General IT Security
We’ve got a good, random assortment this month, as 1) vendors were prepping for SpiceWorld, 2) we were also focused on SpiceWorld pretty heavily, and 3) SPICEWORLD. @juwan-for-watchguard managed to keep it between the ditches though, and put up a good post about password management . Lots of good info on that one!
How-To Articles
Aleks (NAKIVO) - How to Set Up and Use Remote Desktop Connection in Ubuntu Linux
Priyal (Stellar Info Tech) - How to Upload PST Files to Office 365 by Maintaining Folder Structure
Cyber Security
In the ever-terrifying world of “cyber security”, @roger-knowbe4 reminded us all how prevalent social engineering still is in 2023 . It’s a great read, and it gives me a reason to shout-out one of the original Kings of Social Engineering, and a man who needs no introduction…but would be absent for it anyway:

Water Cooler
Meanwhile, over to the water cooler, @tiffany-for-hpe managed to get us all chatting about incorrect tech terms , while letting us all hide our user-based trauma behind a thinly veiled mask of memes. Or is that just me?
Water Cooler > Cooking With Spice
In a bold move (1), @bailey-comptia planted a seed (2) in all of our heads for the day, by asking the spiciest (3) Community " What’s your go-to hot sauce? " The results were a four-alarm (4) barn burner of a hot (5) topic, featuring some great replies and plenty of sizzling (6) recommendations peppered (7) throughout! Whew…ok, I got to seven, though!
IT Jobs/Careers
I love a post that gets me thinking, and @justin-for-legrand threw down a gauntlet with " How many interviews did you bomb before you got your current job? " Personally, this job came right after nearly 8mo of being “laid off”/unemployed, and I stopped counting. So, I guess, if I had to estimate, I’d say approximately 800 billion.
Speaking of, @tamara-for-scale-computing also asked a tough question," …have you heard of ‘quiet hiring’? " I didn’t even know that was a thing, but honestly, as long as y’all are being quiet for a change, I’m on board.
Data Backup
We were also given a chance to help @nathan-managecast choose a new domain name . Great job helping out, y’all!

I wanted to feature this one to A) show off a good Best Answer from @brad-mdaemon-technologies , but to also 2), keep this here forever , as his answer features a helpful little video on DMARC.
