One quick thing that I ran into problems with when i first started was Windows XP Firewall blocking (obviously) the scans. That’s at least a good place to start if you’re running alot of XP machines…

As far as your IP SChemes go…Double check your subnets…You could have a good range but a bad subnet range that will kick you out too…

{"@type":"Person
dustinhane9762
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/dustinhane9762"}},{"@type":"Answer

Dustin is correct, firewalls, especially third party ones, kill the scans.

Also check that WMI is running and accessible. Even if we cannot successfully connect to and inventory a device it should be added to the Inventory if we can ping it and get NetBIOS information.

Are you running Vista on remote devices on the network? Are the missing devices pingable from the Spiceworks Computer? Whats even funnier was I noticed that you had posted, and when I pulled up the thread I immediately noticed I had spelled it Sam, and not SAM (as I have seen it elsewhere) so I started to Edit the post before realizing that I had, indeed, intended it to be Sam. Hadn’t even read your post.
