I have got the inventory scan to work from my test desktop but when i moved it to a dedicated computer it seems to fail now.

So we have windows firewall off, we use a thirdparty firewall that i have added the server as an exception for scanning and wmi access.

I know these steps work as it is fine on the desktop, I have even tried to use wmic in the command prompt but i get rpc server unavailable from the spiceworks server. Though i don’t think that is the problem as i can run wmic from one of the server to spiceworks and it works fine.

I am not sure where to look for this issue any help is appreciated.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

This had to do with the subnet the server was on. I was doing some testing and moved it’s subnet and now it works perfectly. I don’t know exactly why that subnet was having issues with WMI i may have some random port blocked.

Everything seems to be fine now.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Did you test by installing the spiceworks agent on the dedicated computer?

{"@type":"Person
eavalos
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/eavalos"}},{"@type":"Answer

Yes i have tested the agent. And it works fine but we create and destroy servers quite a lot and it’s not really easy for us to use the agent for every server but do want to have them inventoried for tracking purposes.

Do you know of any reason that would prevent/cause a time out of WMI one way but not the other.

{"@type":"Person
spiceuser-jac9l
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/spiceuser-jac9l"}}]}}
