Hi,
Totally new to this. Ran the inventory and of course 99% scan errors. Any pre steps i have to configure first? It is a domain enviroment.
So far, just using for my local site which have about 80 workstations and 25 servers.

have to agree on that… just read all manuals helps alot…or follow tutorials
As others have said, take a look at the help docs, they are very well written for SpiceWorks.
Highlights are:
-
Make sure you have admin rights with the account configured to do the scans on all boxes
-
make sure that WMI is able to get through any firewalls on the systems
-
make sure that any DNS errors are resolved, these are typically DNS server issues.
It’s about my domain admin account not able to authenticate. Think it is the WMI thing. Will have to try to find more info.
But there should be an easier way than running to 100 computers and configuring the WMI right?
I see all devices in the inventory and serial numbers n also OS. but nothing else. no memory, no disks etc…
Attached is the screenshot…

Have you double-checked the user account you have setup for the computers you are scanning in Spiceworks → Settings → Network Scan? You can test it by clicking on the little triangle next to the IP address range and network account entry and choosing ‘test’.
test failed. check account (it is a domain admin), password (have to be correct in order to log in) or WMI configuration.
What do i have to configure for the WMI?
Many thanks for all the help so far.

You will need to
- Allow the right ports thought your firewalls
- Enable remote admin access
- Check WMI and DCOM are working right
