No bias here but I am liking the Random numbers being generated since the parental advisory fiasco a couple of weeks ago. Some good times and lots of great music. Simply Red enters the charts this week, Chris Rea fading fast and Poison having fun with a cover of a classic.

29: A Shoulder To Cry On - Tommy Page

32: Buffalo Stance - Neneh Cherry

38: Your Mama Don’t Dance - Poison

81: If You Don’t Know Me By Now - Simply Red

97: Workin On It - Chris Rea

Very pleased to see a Chris Rea song here, even if it’s one I don’t know!

All of these were pretty good, even the ones I didn’t know. Thanks for sharing!

Interesting…I knew every one of these EXCEPT the Chris Rea song, and I know a lot of his stuff. These tunes remind me of some really good times. Thanks for the share!

It’s an interesting mix, the only ones I recognize are Simply Red and the Loggins and Messina original of the Poison song. The Chris Rea song is good, Neneh Cherry is annoying and Tommy Page forgettable. Apparently “Alternative” was moving out of the mainstream by 1989, where I would recognize most of the top hits from earlier in the 80s.
The Simply Red song that always sticks in my mind is Holding Back the Years, often played right next to Breaking Us in Two by Joe Jackson

Don’t recall Tommy Page at all.
Neneh - I think this is the only song of hers I know
Poison - I remember this as a huge disappointment amongst the other singles on that album
Simply Red - Oh… this one was very overplayed in my part of the world. I think I have actually heard this sung badly on purpose a billion times~ If you haven’t heard me by now!
Chris - oh yes, the ‘wok wok, wok wok’ pulled the memories forth

'88-'89 my family were traveling the world a fair bit, it was a huge ‘year’ for my sister & myself; as we landed in new countries to find that the songs we thought were new, were old in X location. Or songs we had heard for 6 months, that were just getting released in Y location.
I heard Run to the Hills (Maiden) & White Wedding (Billy Idol) hit the top of the charts in 3 countries.
