BWAHAHAHA!!! Those are so much fun! A customer of mine got one while I was there, and I had them watch what happens, and then I talked them through it all. Finally go them to purchase a real firewall shortly after! LOL!!!

Lucky! The only call I’ve gotten like that was while I was driving, could only bluff my way through so much. I did enjoy making them repeat their steps multiple times to open the task manager and event viewer to see all the ‘viruses and malware’ I had.

Had one on the weekend. Asked him if his parents were proud of him being a thief. Kept insisting that he was legit and that I had issues with my computer. I kept telling him I knew it was a scam. Then he asked if I was an “astrologer” since I could apparently “know” things. So I told him yes. Next thing I know we’re having an argument as to who was the bigger scam artist - “MS Techs” or “Astrologers”! Since he hung up on me, I think I won.

It’s amazing that they can see a problem before I know that it exists and call me ahead of failure to prevent it. It’s also cool they take credit cards

I don’t know who all listens to podcasts, but Reply All recently took one of these scam calls and went way overboard on digging deeper into it. Wasn’t from ‘Microsoft Support’ but an Antivirus software.
