After this experience and seeing this thread , I’ve come to realize a lot of Spiceheads are interested in going to the Salt Lick on their visit to Spiceworld! Let’s use this discussion thread to post if you are able to give a ride to Salt Lick, or if you want to hitch a ride to Salt Lick. I’m sure the SpiceHeads will show their appreciation in some way if you volunteer to drive.

Please note: If you are just here for the duration of the conference, you will be very busy with Spiceworld events, and probably will not have time for a trip this far out. This thread is meant for those that “make a vacation out of Spiceworld” and are staying for longer than the conference runs.

For those that end up unable to find a ride to Salt Lick or do not have time for the trip, there are alternative options:

  1. There is a Salt Lick location at the airport, but it is not as great as the original location.

  2. There is Ironworks BBQ (within walking distance) and all of these other great places to get it !

Good luck!

I would love to go but I will need a ride.

I will think about it…

I’ll have a car. Not sure how many I’ll be able to hold, but I’m willing to drive it out there.

First timer here, I would also like to go to Salt Lick!

When do you people think you’ll have time to go to an non SW thing? There’s really no time unless you are staying longer than the actual conference duration.

This is really important. We can’t stress enough how little free time there is at SW. It is SOLID activity. Maybe the spouses will have time during the day or something. But any Spiceheads doing any extra activities like this are forfeiting the main event social activities going on.

Yea, it really comes down to when. I come in on Saturday and leave Thursday. I have some down time but I agree that Monday through Wednesday it is very busy.

Monday through Thursday early afternoon is really busy, dont’ cut it short  The Denny’s breakfast on Thursday is an important part of the tradition. That’s Grey’s breakfast.

Sunday if you are in town, that’s the time to do it.

I am actually leaving Thursday first thing. Didn’t know about breakfast when I purchased tickets. That and we go all out decorating for Halloween at our house and my wife would kill me if I got home any later than I already am. :frowning:

Open invite? If so, where is the Denny’s?

That is what is confusing about all of this, the Spiceworks Employees. have been putting out lists of things to do while in town, I just assumed there would be some down-time.

I’m getting in Sunday evening (7:30 ish) and will have some down time then and monday afternoon (only attending one of the SpiceU courses) I guess I’ll be busy the rest of the time then.

I know, we’ve been trying to discourage that. But every year they put in a lot of effort to get people to do things other than the “Spicehead” stuff.

To be fair, lots of people aren’t interested in the “community” stuff and do want to head out on their own and escape. Not everyone at Spiceworld is social, mostly only the people who are also social on the community.

Sadly, though, they push the “other” stuff so much that we have serious problems even with our own staff not believing us that there isn’t free time and they make plans that cause problems.

Yup, solid stuff to do till Thursday afternoon. Then you are into the “slowing down” time.

We always say, if you are doing all of the community stuff you will get a MAX of four hours of sleep a night. The only window in which to sleep is roughly 3AM - 7AM Mon, Tues and Wed nights.

Grey has the details in a thread. Not sure where it went.

Here’s that thread: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/393480-thursday-morning-breakfast-decompress

And the original post has been edited to bring attention to the fact that you will not have time during the conference to go to Salt Lick.

We went last night, had some local friends take us. It was magical.
