Have one laptop which i’m trying to scan in to our inventory - have a separate scan setup just for specific IP Addresses, the scan will run but it doesn’t add the device?

Spoke to someone and they said their is a URL which you can use on the client machine that will force a connection with spiceworks - eg: helpdesk.example.com/spiceworks:force

Had a look online but haven’t been able to find much in relation to this.

Anyone know if this is a thing ?

4 Spice ups

http://yourSWserver/fix

but you can also look at my BA here WMI Error

2 Spice ups

Thanks for that - it’s forcing the connection but it’s not showing the device i’m on, shows a couple of others though.

Will need to look into it some more and give you BA a try when i get a chance.

If the device isnt even being seen, check your firewall and file and printer sharing

Hey Ryan! Are you still having trouble, or did you get the devices scanning?

Hey Matt,

Still having trouble with it - there’s two devices now which have failed to scan, both brand new and out of the box, haven’t had a chance to try rods second suggestion yet though.

Any other ideas that i can add to my to-do list?

Thanks,

Ryan

3 things are typical causes

file and printer sharing is disabled - enable it

WMI rules are not allowing the scan - see my link

Registry is not set to allow remote administrators to bypass UAC - see my link
